Chad Simpson Storms into Lafayette County Victory Lane

Chad Simpson Victorious at Lafayette County Speedway

It was the third year for stars of the Corn Belt Clash to highlight the racing season at Lafayette County Speedway in Darlington, Wisconsin, and this year was the best yet. Defending race champ, Dave Eckrich was the early leader and looked good to repeat. Before long Billy Moyer Jr. worked his way to the led and passed Eckrich and was in command. While all this was going on CBC Champion Chad Simpson was stalking and pounced for the lead and win over Moyer Jr. It was a night of stars and Hall of Famers all trying to tame the tight and fast half mile Wisconsin oval and the crowd left cheering.

With Simpson taking home the first prize and his first series victory of the year,  Moyer Jr. took home the second spot. Dave Eckrich rallied to keep third but fourth and fifth was contested to the bitter end. Jason Utter and Home Track Champ, Mike Fryer battled lap after lap. Utter took the forth place position but the Mike Fryer fought hard to get fifth, keeping the local faithful on the edge of their seats.

The series will be off for the next month before two bigs weekends of racing to close out the 2014 season. Thursday, August 21 the series returns to Luxemburg Speedway for a $3,000-to-win show. The next night the series makes its first ever trip to the Oshkosh Speed Zone Raceway as its a part of the Annual George Sheffler Memorial. The teams of the CBC will close out the Wisconsin swing with a return trip to the Plymouth Dirt Track on Saturday, August 23 for a $3,000-to-win show to close out the weekend.

A weekend of firsts will close out the 2014 season as the series invades the Land of Lincoln for three big events August 29, 30 and 31 to celebrate Labor Day weekend. Friday night the series makes its first trip to Farmer City Raceway for a $3,000-to-win show, the next night they make the short trip to the legendary Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois for another $3,000-to-win show before closing out the weekend and season at the Vermillion County Speedway in Danville, Illinois on Sunday August 31 for another $3,000-to-win event.

Chad Simpson currently leads the series points over Dave Eckrich and Jason Utter while Wisconsin's Bob Cullen new leads the DirtonDirt.com Rookie of the Year presented by VP Racing Fuels Heartland and Out-Pace Racing Products point standings over Minnesota's Jordan Yaggy.
